The 25 years of cooperation with Belgium began with the meeting of Dr Zofia Kulakowska with President Maria Król in 1991. At that time, Dr. Kulakowska was the medical director of the "La Famille" center in Brussels for children with early brain injury. Thanks to the help of Dr Zofia Kulakowska and the Belgian Caritas Catolica, several employees of the Association were able to stay and study at "La Famille", and one of them, Piotr Paul, completed a two-year course in Directed Teaching, certified by the Belgian Minister of Education. In Brussels, staff members completed one-month internships, while in Zamość they attended lectures by Dr. Zofia Kułakowska and workshops conducted by YvesBawin - Director of the Brussels Center.
